
UDO RULES
Any dancer wishing to compete at any UDO competition or a sanctioned UDO competition must be members of the UDO. This is FREE of charge. Membership can be obtained on line at www.uniteddance.co.uk each dancer must complete their own membership form multiple applications from a dance school will not be permitted.
UDO competitions can offer a mixture of the following categories SOLO’S DUOS’S QUADS TEAMS CREW BATTLES BREAK DANCE. Not every competition will offer all categories.
The UDO takes the poaching of students from one dance school to another seriously. Any evidence of this will be dealt with by the executive committee. Schools found guilty of this could see their membership of the UDO taken away.
SOLO RULES
Each dancer must be a member
Dancers are not permitted to dance in more than one age division and one category at each competition.
Dance entry forms for solos at the British Championships and The World Championships must be received at the UDO office no later than 10 days prior to the competitions. Entries for these two events cannot be made on the day.
Dancers when they are on the floor must stay in their own dance space moving around the floor is not permitted.
Dancers cannot touch the judges.
Dancers cannot perform acrobatics or any move they are not in full control of i.e. front or Back Flips in early rounds of a competition such moves are only allowed in a FINAL where there is more room on the dance floor.
Clarification on ages i.e. If you are 9 you can compete in Under 10 if you are 10 you must compete in under 12 and so on.
Teachers or professional dancers must compete in ADVANCED
Student teachers must compete in Intermediate or open.

COMPETING CATAGORIES
NEWCOMERS
This division is open to all dancers who have never competed in any Street dance competition. Dancers will be permitted to compete in this division no more than THREE TIMES however if you win a newcomer division with more than five dancers in it you will automatically have to move up to intermediate
INTERMEDIATE
This division is open to all competitors dancers will be permitted to dance in this Division until they have won FOUR times with more than SIX dancers in the division OR they Win at the UDO World Championship with more than six competitors in the division. On achieving either you must move up to intermediate.
ADVANCED
This division is open to all competitors once you have danced in this division you cannot go back to INTERMEDIATE unless you move up an age group; you will then be permitted to move back down to intermediate. Each dancer will perform a solo spot of their routine for a maximum of 12 bars (48 beats). On achieving five advanced wins with over 6 dancers or you win at the UDO World Street Dance Championships with more than Six DANCERS in the division you will then automatically move up to Junior all Stars or Senior all star.
JUNIOR ALL STAR
To qualify for this division you must be under 14 you will have had to have five advanced wins with more than 6 competitors at an UDO competition OR YOU Win top advanced dancer at the UDO World Street Dance Championships. You will Dance a solo spot to your own choice of music for no more than 2 minutes.
SENIOR ALL STAR
To qualify for this division you must achieve 5 wins in the advanced division with more than 6 dancers or you win top advanced dancer at the UDO World Street Dance Championship. Be aged 14 or over you will dance a solo spot to your own choice of music for no more than 2 Minutes
RULES FOR DUOS

All duos must compete in the same Division as there solos or the division of the highest ranked dancer i.e. if you dance in Newcomer but your partner dances in advanced you must compete in advanced. This also applies to your age you compete in the division of the eldest dancer.

RULES FOR TEAMS

Each team must consist of a minimum of 6 dancers and a maximum of 24
Dancers can only perform for one team/crew at any one competition and in only one age category.
The UDO will however allow a dancer to represent their own high school as well as their dance team/crew at the same competition
Props are permitted providing they can be cleared from the dance immediately after your performance.

TEAM CATAGORIES
Newcomer
Teams are permitted to stay in this category until they win a competition with more than 6 teams against them.
Intermediate
Any Team is permitted to compete at this level providing they have not won at OPEN level with more than 6 teams against them. Once a team wins at this level with more than 6 teams against them they must move to the OPEN category.
Open
Any team is permitted to compete at this level but once you have you cannot go back down to Intermediate or Newcomer.
The Overall winning Open team at the UDO World Championships will be invited to compete in the Invitational Division at the next UDO World Championships this would be optional.
RULES REGARDING MUSIC FOR TEAMS
Teams will provide their own music on a CD (Please bring a spare copy of your music)
No swearing allowed within in the music
The music can be NO more than two minutes for newcomer teams
The music can be NO more than two minutes 30 Seconds for intermediate teams
The music can be NO more than three minutes for open teams
Rules regarding ages within teams
75% of the competing team must be within in the age division they are competing in. 25% of the team would be allowed to be older. However they can only be older up to the next age division.
I.e. If you had 12 Dancers in your under 14 team 9 dancers would have to be under 13 years of age, 3 dancers could be older either 14, 15, 16, OR 17 years of Age. THEY WOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO USE DANCERS OVER THE AGE OF 18.
Teams are permitted to use dancers younger than the age division they are entered in IE. An under 10 dancer could compete in an over 18 team.
UDO World Championship Qualification
In your first year of competing within the UDO you do not have to qualify for the UDO World Street Dance Championships. Once a dancer has competed at the UDO World street dance championship he or she to qualify for the next World Championship must attend a minimum of TWO regional heats within one calendar year.
DANCE ETHICS
The decision of the Judges and contest coordinators are final; dancers are not permitted to ask the judges about their placements. No one is allowed to approach scrutineer table during the competition. Any questions you have during the competition should be directed to your dance teacher who then will take the question to the contest coordinator.
Good sportsmanship should be adhered to at all times UDO will not tolerate bad sportsmanship and have the right to disqualify or suspend from their competition any competitor showing bad sportsmanship.
TITLES
when using titles in any correspondence you must give the full description of your title, which will always start with the U.D.O then your age category and your level of dance then the Championship. IE the U.D.O under 16 Newcomer British Street dance Champion.
COSTUME RULES
Competitors are free to wear any street style outfits they wish.
Dancers must wear suitable footwear.
If any of the above rules are broken in any way and they are brought to the attention of the UDO or a contest coordinator they will be looked into and dealt with by the UDO Executive committee. The decision of the contest coordinator or the UDO executive committee are final and there is no grounds for an appeal.
Rules can be amended and will take effect from September 1st 2007
